Local Food in Practice: Restaurant & Farm Partnerships is a free event series for Vermont farmers and restaurant buyers, is funded through a USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant held by the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets.
Networking Event: The Tillerman
Join us at The Tillerman for a visit designed for local farmers and restaurant staff. You will leave with practical knowledge to strengthen your partnerships, improve supply chain connections, and bring more fresh, locally sourced flavors to Vermont tables.
Bonus Resource: VSFA Producer Expo
This event is not part of the Local Food in Practice series, but it may be a great fit for restaurant buyers looking to connect with local producers.
The Vermont Specialty Food Association is hosting the first-ever VSFA Producer Expo on May 4, 2026 in Montpelier, VT — a new B2B trade show connecting Vermont producers with buyers, retailers, distributors, chefs, and industry partners.
Webinar: Sourcing and Selling for the Restaurant Market
Chef Adam Monette of Cafe Monette in St. Albans and farmer Kyle Doda of 1000 Stone Farm in Brooksfield will share how they build and sustain meaningful working partnerships. Together, we’ll discuss how relationships begin, what makes collaboration successful, and how they navigate communication, pricing, seasonality, and expectations.
Networking Event: Pearl Street Pizza
Come to Pearl Street Pizza on May 26th from 4-6 pm for an event designed for local farmers and restaurant staff. The Pearl Street Pizza team will share how they approach purchasing, menu planning, and working with local producers, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how sourcing decisions are made in a busy restaurant setting.
Farm Tour: Intervale Center
Explore the Intervale’s diverse edible landscape, while learning about the Intervale’s ethical foraging framework. Tour plantings of Aronia berries, Hazelnuts, Elderberry, Pawpaws, and Mulberry. Seasonal highlights include Knotweed and Garlic Mustard, offering a hands-on look at foraging and harvesting practices.
Networking Event: The Putney Diner
Join us on June 16 from 4–6 pm at The Putney Diner for a restaurant visit designed for local farmers and restaurant professionals. Enjoy light refreshments while connecting with fellow food system peers and engaging in open conversation.
Farm Tour: Root 5 Farm
Walk the fields at Root 5 Farm during one of the most abundant weeks of the Vermont growing season. Owners Danielle Allen and Dana Benner will guide restaurant staff and buyers through the farm as July hits its peak . Come see what's growing, ask questions, and get a firsthand look at what will be on your menus through late summer.
Networking Event: Shelburne Farms
Connect with Vermont’s local food community at Shelburne Farms for a casual industry meet-up. Enjoy snacks and refreshments while meeting fellow restaurateurs, farmers, and food producers.
